The Secondary Education course is designed for learners who wish to complete their high school education (equivalent to Class X) through a flexible, open learning environment
The Senior Secondary Education course offered by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is designed for learners who have completed their secondary education and wish to pursue higher studies at the pre-degree level.
The Vocational Education program is designed to meet the increasing demand for skilled manpower and to provide learners with practical skills that lead to employability or self-employment. NIOS offers over 100 courses across diverse sectors, focusing on a mix of theoretical knowledge and hands-on skill development.
The NIOS Department under the St. Augustine’s Day School banner has been a boon to many Candidates and their Families. With its inception to the Institution in April 2019 many Students who would have otherwise been dropouts or unable to bear the cost of Education have completed their Secondary and Senior Secondary Levels successfully with the NIOS. The NIOS is a student-centric board giving the Students an opportunity to not only complete their education but can also better their results through the On-Demand Scheme whereby Students can reappear for a particular Paper to improve their grades in that particular subject. The NIOS gives Candidates an opportunity to appear for their Boards twice a year for the Stream I Block I (March-April) and Stream I Block II ( September-October). The NIOS curriculum offers a number of Practical-based subjects and Vocational-based Subjects besides the normal Theory Papers. Besides Theory and Practical Papers Candidates are also evaluated through TMA (Tutor Marked Assignments) and PCP (Personal Contact Programme).
Awareness of the importance of this Board must be made as it has reached out to countless number of Students from various walks of life to complete their Basic Education – it has also helped the Students of the marginalized sections of society since the remuneration charged to complete the Class X or Class XII is extremely nominal.
It is also a Board that caters to the Students with Special Needs providing accommodation and adaptation (Writers/Readers/Extra time) methods whenever they appear for the Practical and Theory Papers.
It must be mentioned that Students completing their Senior Secondary (Class XII) have been placed in leading Colleges and Universities in India and Abroad thus taking the NIOS Board to International Standards.
